    About

Style By Andy Chan Hair Salon in Mid Valley Southkey provides hair cutting and chemical services, though guest experiences are notably inconsistent. While some clients appreciate skillful stylists who offer personalized recommendations and comfortable scalp massages, others report significant dissatisfaction, citing poor technical execution, unprofessional behavior, and inconsistent pricing practices. Complaints include unsatisfactory outcomes from chemical treatments and concerns over pricing transparency compared to other salons in the area. Prospective clients are encouraged to clarify specific service expectations, potential additional costs, and stylist levels before booking. If you are considering a chemical service, have you discussed your specific hair history and desired outcomes with the stylist to ensure realistic expectations?

This was my first time getting a haircut in JB and it turned out to be a nightmare. I asked for a stylist experienced in wolf cuts and was assigned James, who charged RM168 as a “director” level. I was excited, hoping he understood what I wanted. Unfortunately, it was all talk and no skill. He spoke endlessly, trying to show off his knowledge, but the result was nowhere near what he described. Instead of a wolf cut, my hair looked like it had been chewed up. Even the basics were disappointing. The hair wash was mediocre, with fingers constantly poking my ears and no head massage at all. Service was equally poor. I had to ask for a drink, and only then was I given a small paper cup of water. Overall, a very disappointing experience. Please do your research before choosing your stylist if you care about getting a proper haircut.

TLDR: cannot make it. Spent ~RM688 on keratin treatment, had a make up soft rebonding because I was not satisfied with the outcome, and my hair did not look better (nowhere near straight). Either they cut cost and did not use the right chemicals or they have no skill. I have had my fair share of experience doing chemical treatments at different salons, including keratin itself and rebonding. The result from this salon is a 0/10. Long story: i visited this place a few times for simple haircut previously. They were so-so. This round, i decided to do keratin k-gloss. My hair is slightly wavy by nature, but definitely not under the curly category. They kept telling me my hair is curly and if I dont do rebonding, it will not be 100% straight, and also recommended keratin framesi. I ended up doing keratin framesi. Nagged at me about my decision the whole time. Did not cut my fringe and insisted it should remain long. (Usually even if I want to keep my fringe long, other hair stylists will trim it a bit.) However, the result after the keratin treatment and only washing on the 3rd day as instructed made my hair look worse than before - as wavy and dryer than before. Refer to photo of the back of my hair. Went back to enquire on the results. They nagged again and said they already told me my hair is curly and it will not be 100% straight. Duh, but it should not look worse right? Especially when I did keratin before and the result was very straight. They offered to do soft rebond as a make up free of charge (i was with my family), i agreed. And subsequently charged me RM60 for wash and blow when I was alone in the shop. Result of the soft rebond - hair is still as wavy but slightly less dry compared to after the keratin treatment. Wasted RM750 and 6 hours in all. Dont come here if you can spare a little bit more money in another salon. Too bad I was cheapo.

I did hair cut, hair treatment and scalp treatment today. The experience is superb. My stylist is Amy, his hair cut is really good. I have been with him for quite some time and I only trust him for the hair cut. He will recommend me treatments and hair style according to my hair conditions and what is suitable for me. No hard selling!! After he recommended me to do the treatments and his colleague who did the treatment is really good! Hair wash and scalp massage is really comfortable. Not painful at all. Overall really love the services!!

Hard selling is perfectly fine, but dishonest jacking up the price is something super strange about this place. Perhaps they quote a higher price so they can keep some in their pocket😌 Walked into the salon for a simple hair color 1 tone and was quoted 480rm when my length was considered shoulder, and since one of them was quite nice I decided to do my hair there. However into the hair coloring, a few others walked in and had even longer hair than me but for one of them who had a even much longer hair for single tone hair dye was quoted a lower 360rm. Felt kinda strange as they then also tried to sell me their hair treatment for the same price, 480rm!? If u do the calculations, let’s be frank - you can easily get your hair done in a prestigious salon in Singapore for ~300sgd (if you’re gonna pay close to 1k rm) and trust me, the service and professionalism here is nothing close. Had a friend who did her hair with me and she unknowingly had to pay 138rm for a trim on top of the same color services. That’s almost ~50sgd and you can pay for a super good hairstylist in Sg. This hairstylist who did her hair, really short short hair (golden short hair, if I’m not wrong her name is Jo. I spotted her in a review below 👇🏼 who might be her friend cos she said Jo didn’t do hard selling. Are u kidding?) she was a nightmare. Guys, she was SO upset when we decided not to proceed with the treatment due to the time being too tight as they took longer than expected. She also had such an unprofessional performance as my friend’s face had so many patches of the color. And guess what - after we said no she started throwing her attitude and didn’t wanna service us anymore😅 So please, reconsider your option if you wanna come to this place. There’s a lot of other salon which I believe would be a better option and if not for a typical busy holiday peak at Mid Valley, I wouldn’t have settled so quickly. I asked a few other salons down the mall after and they all quoted a range of 350rm-380rm… I could read a few fellow reviews who felt this place was a complete rip off. Hopefully if you’re the owner reading this, you can educate your staff and be more honest in what you do.
