Had the pulled beef truffle bagel and espresso layered coconut latte. On the pricier side (prices in the photo). Pulled beef truffle bagel: Generous serving suitable for sharing. Bagel is fresh and crisp, pulled beef is juicy and complements the egg and hash brown perfectly. Unfortunately, could not appreciate any fragrance at all from the added black truffle. Espresso layered coconut latte: Essentially a dirty latte with sweetened milk. Could not taste the coconut, though the beverage was overall very smooth and easy to drink. Definitely a tasty drink, though the coffee taste was overpowered by the sweetened milk likening it to an affogato. Prompt friendly attentive service. Comfortable rustic balinese themed cafe. Did not have to wait long at all despite coming on a Saturday during the lunch crowd for a solo traveller. Will return for their bagel and to sample other creative dishes on their menu.

Dine here during lunch with friends. First time tried the bagel and it was soo delicious. The pulled lamb is juicy and bagel is quite soft plus service is excellent. Ambience is very cosy and suitable for groups. A nice place for OOTD too.

Visited Palates & Bagels by T.A.M – Melodies of Thai and absolutely loved it! From the moment we walked in, the café’s vibe was on point: the two-storey bungalow setting at 46 Jalan Beringin (Taman Melodies) gives a relaxed, rustic charm with Bali-inspired décor and warm ambient lighting.  🍽 Food The menu is unique—bagels with a Thai/Asian-twist make for a flavourful brunch treat. The savoury bagels (such as the Ah Seng with prawn patty and hae bee hiam mayo) are generous and bold; the flavour combinations truly stand out.  They also serve mains like Thai green curry pasta and a whole duck-leg bagel option for when you want to treat yourself.  Drinks include creative choices too—coconut-latte variations, Thai milk tea snow ice, and more.  Everything we tried delivered— great texture, generous fillings, and good balance of flavours. 🌿 Ambience & Service The café is spacious and airy, especially upstairs, so you don’t feel cramped. The décor is laid-back yet stylish—perfect for a relaxed brunch or catching up with friends.  Service was friendly and attentive. We were welcomed warmly and staff helped with recommendations. The music added to the café vibe—chill, not intrusive. 🅿️ Practical details There’s parking available within the premises and also road-side parking nearby, which made the visit effortless. The café is wheelchair-friendly—spacious layout and easy access—which is a big plus. 👍 Why I’ll return • Sustainable brunch option with creativity behind the menu • Great for café hopping, yet feels comfortable enough to linger • Exceptionally good value for the portion sizes and quality • Friendly service + accessible location (just ~10 minutes drive from CIQ)  Final word If you’re in Johor Bahru and looking for a café that delivers on food, ambience, service and practicality (parking+accessibility), Palates & Bagels is a top pick. the top notch & welcoming services by the staffs deserve the five stars! Tin and Zin really helped us and were very attentive to each of our questions. food is delicious but not exclusively outstanding. the prawn patty was meaty and rich in flavour but the whole meal somehow feels a bit dry, maybe bcs theres little to no veggies/side served? it was quite a hassle to cut the portions too haha. the crab meat is nice as the thai omelette taste felt stronger. almond croissant is so buttery and we actually love how flaky it is! coffee bean is strong and bold

A wonderful dining experience! The atmosphere at this cafe is cozy and relaxing, and the food is delicious. I especially loved their Bagel, the cream filling was rich and smooth, and the lychee on top was sweet and refreshing. ​The service this time was also impressive. Mr. Hafiz, was very attentive. He always wore a smile and proactively ensured our water glasses were full. He is truly excellent.
