  • Update: 20251029. ROASTED DUCK noodle (dry): 5* I had the more expensive drumstick option (RM16). Regular meet sides =RM10. The drumstick was succulent juicy and relatively tender. Chewy with great mouth feel. This is tge first time that I've eaten this here and It really is very flavourful. I might rate it as amongst the top 3 I've ever eaten. Ah Ming tells me that he used to do roasted duck in his younger days in KL. So it ought not be surprising. Btw, he only roasts 1 duck a day only! For now - he says. So you're forwarned. ;). Will I eat this again? YES! End of update for 20251029. 20251001 update: As of 1 Oct 2025, Ah Ming Roasted meat has assume sole main tenancy for this Kakilang Resturant. AhMing is now the only stall here. However his menu has expanded to include wanton noodles and curry noodles with selected roast meat toppings from his chopping board. I understand zichar aka ala carte chinese dishes is also available. On my first visit since its new "reopening", I tried his curry noodle - one of my fave street food. Here's my opinion. Curry noodle. Old school - I was told Ipoh-style curry mee - curry noodle with old school yumm. Curry gravy is a tad too spicy for me - enough for me to break out in sweat even though its not too hot in the restaurant. Lemakness is spot on. Rich but not overpowering. Ingredients: TAUPOK, ROAST PORK, cockle, pig skin, long bean. Taugay and your choice of noodle. Cost RM12 Taste 4.8* Value: 4.8* Ambience: 4.5* Friendliness: 5* Overall: 4.8* Will I eat this again? YES! Update 20251001 ENDS. ----------- This Kakilang Restaurant is now located 3 doors away at 8 Jln Abiad 1 JB since October 2024 JB from where It was previously located - at the corner of the same row of shops. The number of stalls has reduced significantly and only two or three of the old stalls remains, namely the Wanton noodle ++ and Ming Kee roasted meat stall. This is a review of Ming Kee Roasted Meat stall. I have been patronising this stall in JB for more than 20 years and for a good reason. The char siew and roast pork is really good. So much so that I have almost never eaten these meat elsewhere. And I eat here quite almost every fortnight. The meat are cooked to perfection with well charred edges of the char siew and crackling skin of the roast pork. The accompanying marinating sauce are thick and sweet. Ming Kee also sells roasted chicken (edited on 24 Aug 2025: steamed chicken is also available) and it combines well with the roasted meat. However, for me, I feel that the breast meat is usually comes out a bit tougher than I would like. So I always order the chick-lower ( the red meat.) Which is spot on tender and juicy. The chilli sauce matches well and one saucer served is often not enough for me. They serve broken rice which is fragrant and not overly oily, so one can wolf down three bowls without feeling jilat. But what brings me there over and over again is Ah Ming (the owner) who is very friendly and chatty and we usually having a lively chat when he is not too busy. The Covid pandemic has hit many of these little hardworking stall holders hard and that he has survived the economic hardship that it brought is just an inspiring story in itself. I will continue to patronise this stall for as long as I can ride my little two wheeler across the Causeway. You should try it sometime or miss out on a great heritage food.

  • Happen to pass by and give it a try. Went on weekday late night like 11pm. Food not bad, serve quite fast. 2 kolo mee and 1 popcorn chicken cost 33rm. Will be back for other dishes.

  • So far easily the nicest curry noodles I have eaten in JB around this area. Gravy is thick as I like it and inside a weird odd mixture of ingredients like char siew, wantons and various fishcakes.

  • The food is extremely good! The fish was live fish, so fresh and the sauce was so tasty. The fish & Sea Hum is only RM62 (~$18). There is a huge variety of food such as Char Kway Tiao, Kway Chap, Indian Food, Zi Char, Frog Porridge, etc. I highly recommend the Char Kway Tiao!

  • This is the new kakilang shop which moved 3 door to the left as the old shop at the corner was sold off to make way for a restaurant. This new place is much cleaner and nicer than the previous location. To me, the best char siew, siew yoke, chicken rice in JB is located here.
