Johor Bahru Chinese Heritage Museum
About
Johor Bahru Chinese Heritage Museum is a cultural institution that explores the history of the Chinese diaspora in Johor. The museum features three floors of narrative panels, artifacts, and photographs explaining the community's early organization, economic activities, and contributions to the region's development.
Reviewers describe the museum as a small but interesting space that provides insight into local history and the relationship between the community and the Johor Sultanate. While some guests found the exhibits informative, others suggest the space is quite compact. A small admission fee is charged per adult to explore the upper levels.

Community museums are interesting as they tell stories that might not be given prominence in official histories of a country. The JB Chinese Heritage Museum is small but worth visiting, especially for the Chinese diaspora. Narrative panels with text and photos and a few artefacts explain how the Chinese came to Johor, how the community organised itself in the early days, the history under British colonialism through to post-independence, their economic activities and cultural life, and overall contribution to the development and landscape of Johor. All of great interest to this Singaporean as our histories are connected. Half an hour is sufficient time to cover the 3 floors of the museum. Small admission charge of RM6 per adult.

The Chinese Heritage Museum is a great new addition to Johor’s cultural scene. It provides a lot of fascinating history about Johor and showcases the strong historical relationships between the Chinese community and the Sultan of Johor. The museum itself is relatively new, and while there’s an upper floor you can visit, it requires a small fee of RM 6 per adult. I didn’t pay to explore the upper floor, but I believe there’s even more information about Johor up there. Overall, it's definitely worth visiting if you’re interested in learning about Johor’s rich cultural history.

I love history, and as usual, the museum usually provides more details about the history. This museum is not that big. Clean and comfy. When I visited its only about 3-5 tourists in the same room at the same time.

Very lovely and well maintained and organized museum worth visiting! We walked pass by on the New Year Eve and saw their small activities in front of the museum such as Chinese Tradition massage/music then meet the museum staff who invited us inside and told us the history! My family love this experiences and the people and all staff here are super nice, kind and helpful. Thank You for all knowledge and wonderful experiences!

As part of the Johor Chinese heritage, had always wanted to know more about our culture. This museum is very small, not worth your time. You can visit ground floor to see the glorified history of the Johor Sultanate lineage and a little about the chinese heritage centre but once you paid RM6 to go up, its a big dissapointment. Most things can be seen or known from wiki or your elders story and items. I saw lots of Chinese nationals visiting, one group basically just came walk one round and left in 2mins.
