Located in Taman Melodies, not far from the KSL City Mall, is Chaos Natural Wine Bar, a hidden gem in Johor Bahru. In recent years, Taman Melodies has become a foodie destination, with many cafés and restaurants opening up here. On a Sunday evening, I walked in without a reservation, and the staff was kind enough to accept my dining request. This restaurant only opens from 6 pm to midnight and is closed every Wednesday and Thursday. If you wish to enjoy a curated selection of natural wines, handmade pasta, and artisanal dishes, this cosy, chill-vibe restaurant is for you! The relaxed, candlelit atmosphere and the knowledgeable staff will guide you through the wine list, should you require a recommendation. I ordered the following for my dinner here: 1. Pasta - Carbonara - RM42 2. Pasta - Fish Ragu - RM45 3. Grilled Threadfin Fish Tail with Asian Pepper Sauce (160g) - RM72 4. Brownie - RM15 5. Sparkling - Partida Creus AA Magnum 2018 - RM60 6. White - DWNL Langhe Chardonnay 2023 - RM60 7. Red - Sunawi Lampo - RM55 The bill, including service fee for two diners, is RM383.90, which I feel is reasonable. Chaos Natural Wine Bar offers an interesting and unique ambiance, which feels like stepping back in time, into a forgotten era. I would love to return for another delightful and wonderful dinner here.

I dropped by Chaos Natural Wine Bar recently, and it turned out to be an unexpectedly memorable evening. The place strikes a cozy but refined chord rustic touches, warm lighting, and a sense of personality that already feels personal. The wine selection is thoughtful. If you like natural wines (less filtered, more character), there are some solid pours by the glass and wine flights if you want to explore. The staff know their stuff and are happy to walk you through descriptions and suggestions. Food wise, I tried their handmade pasta and some small dishes everything showed attention to detail. The textures were good, and the flavours balanced without being over the top. Dessert (yes, try the brownie) rounded things off nicely. It’s not cheap, but for what you get it’s worth it. Best time to go is when you don’t have to rush; it’s one of those spots made for lingering. If you’re in JB and craving good wine, good food, and a relaxed but intentional vibe, Chaos is a strong bet

I’m so in love with this place. Gonna come back again. Love the vibes here Best to make reservations via Instagram. They have fixed food menu. But the dinks menu are always changing and have to go to the counter and order. Recommend!!! It’s just carbonara is abit salty coz of the bacon. And the 48 hr slow cook steak is perfect. I believe there’s an additional season food menu too. Hope to visit again.

Super cool and hip wine bar with authentic homemade everything Their aesthetic is very hip and kinda romantic. Very dark aesthetic and super cool vibe. Would definitely recommend making a reservation (by res only) and try it out! Their focaccia was amazing Each pasta dish was unique and cooked to perfect al dente and overall loved the vibe Burnt cabbage was good if you’ve never had before And their famous beef ragu was solid as well

As a local, I was excited to visit this natural wine bar and kitchen that’s been quietly rewriting what a night out in JB can feel like. The food menu is small but sharply curated. So much so that we ended up almost ordering everything! Handmade pasta is at the heart of the offering - the Ravioli, rich with burnt butter and sage, was textbook comfort; the Marinara Tagliatelle leaned into slow-cooked simplicity, with amazing tomatoes; and the Smokey Eggplant Vermicelli surprised with its flavourful taste profile and subtle heat. The standout dish was the Asian Hard Shell Clam: combination of plum wine, lacto-fermented tomato juice, ginger flower, and curry leaf - it tastes both nostalgic and entirely new. The wine selection is a lineup of natural beauties, sourcing from small-producers in Europe like Litrozzo, Era Ora, and Lampo. Playful, quirky, sometimes a little chaotic - keeping with the theme of the place. The spot is cosy, with mismatched furnitures & dining wares. They even edit and publish their own zine which is a great read (and laugh) for between bites.
