About
Alibaba Karaoke is a large, well-known venue in Taman Tampoi. It offers a flexible song selection experience by allowing users to access YouTube, providing a wide variety of tracks beyond standard karaoke libraries. While many guests appreciate the affordability and cozy atmosphere, others report that the facilities are worn, with some furniture needing repairs. Customer service experiences are polarized; some staff are described as helpful, while others are perceived as unmotivated or unfriendly.
Given that the venue is popular and can experience wait times, consider arriving early or inquiring about reservation status during peak weekend periods.

Ali Baba Karaoke has been around for many years, and the space is definitely big enough to handle the crowd. The queues are always long, so you can tell the place is popular. However, I think it’s time for a major update. Many of the sofas are already broken or worn out, and the whole place would really benefit from renovation or new investments. A little rebranding or refreshing the interior could help the business continue to grow, because the potential is there. The staff are not very friendly, but they do become easier to communicate with after talking to them a few times. Compared to many other karaoke spots, the price here is more expensive, so it would be nice if the quality of the rooms matched the price. Overall, it’s a well-known karaoke spot with a big space, but it really needs renovation and better service to keep up with the crowd it attracts.

The price here is super reasonable, especially for what you get. The vibes are really chill and cozy—perfect for hanging out with both family and friends. One thing I love the most is that they use YouTube for song selection, so you can literally sing any song you want, including the latest hits or even rare tracks. Unlike other karaoke places where the song list is so limited, this one gives you full freedom. They also provide food and drinks, which makes the whole experience even better—no need to leave the place if you’re hungry or thirsty. Honestly, this has become my go-to karaoke spot in Johor Bahru. If you’re looking for a fun and flexible karaoke place with great service, this is the one!

Came here on a Saturday night 27/12/25 when the place was understandably full. We don’t mind waiting, and we did manage to get a room after about half an hour. However, the front counter experience was disappointing. The cashier and the supervisor (Emily) seemed uninterested and unmotivated, with no greeting or explanation given when we arrived. When a customer steps in, especially during peak hours, basic communication about waiting time and packages should already be offered instead of leaving customers confused. On a positive note, the Level 2 staff member (a Sabahan guy) was very polite and helpful, which we appreciated. The place itself is affordable and suitable for family time. Overall, the venue has potential, but the front female staff need to improve their customer service attitude. Standing silently without engagement makes guests feel unwelcome.

Have been visiting Alibaba like a hundred times.. because it’s convincing and near to my place. Actually I don’t really care about the service, as long I get my room and enjoy myself but this time, I really feel bad.. the guy served us is Khai if I not mistaken. It’s been a few times and all of it is sucks. I might forgive him for the first time, but i’ve been treated badly so many times.. he is cold and look at us like have no money to rent their room. His attitude like a zero. Even when we approach the counter, like we have to greet him.. I think, I will not coming back here, and not recommend any of my friends to visit here or having an event here because we might bother him for coming.

Just wanted to share my recent karaoke night at Alibaba honestly, it was such a vibe! 😍🎤 The place was super cozy and had that fun, slightly retro feel that instantly got me in the mood to sing. The sound system was 🔥 clear vocals, great bass, and the mic made me feel like I was actually performing on stage. The song list was massive, from Malay hits to K-pop to classic English bangers they had it all. If you’re looking for a fun night out with friends, definitely recommend giving Alibaba a try. Whether you’re a shower singer or full on performer, it’s the perfect spot to just let loose and enjoy the moment. Already thinking about when I can go back again!
